Snowmobile Club News!
Note: Club News from 2005 is posted below,
current news for 2006 has been moved to the Message Board
- March 5, 2005 Our
new John Deere Groomer was delivered. Actually is was delivered to a
groomer workshop in Munising to demonstrate the power and efficiency
of the tractor and new drag from Mark’s Welding. There were
many snowmobile clubs in attendance from all over Michigan.

Another successful Poker Run this weekend. However it seems that the
false – poor trail condition rumor may have struck again, we
had 68 participants and beautiful trails. Everyone enjoyed the great
spaghetti dinner and record 50/50 drawing. Subbing DJ Lance DeKeyser
from SoundWave Music and the great sounds of local band Catholic
School Girls Gone Bad entertained the family-rich crowd. Don’t
miss the next run!
- Jan 26, 2005 The
new drag was delivered today (see equipment section for Photos).
Found out that the John Deere Factory is backordering our new
tractor, and the dealer will be bringing us a loaner until the new
machine arrives in early March.
- Jan 15, 2005 Our
first poker run of 2005 went off without a hitch. Either very cold
temps of 0-5 deg or reports of poor trails may have lead to the
record low of 26 participants. All participants bragged about the
above average condition of the trails, even the often problematic
Rail Road Grade. This Run ended at the Driftwood Sports Bar, and
Entertainment was by a mix of bands and entertainers and St.
Ignace’s first open-mic night. See you in February!

Application for the New Groomer Approved! It has been quite a few
years since we applied for and received a grant for a new groomer.
We recently found our that we have been awarded up to $90,000 for a
new groomer machine. The board of directors have selected a new John
Deere tracked tractor to replace our aging Ford/New Holland farm
tractor. We also found out that we are eligible to replace a drag
this year, and have ordered a custom drag from Mark’s Welding
in Gaylord (John Deere green of course!)
- Dec 13, 2004
Groomers are starting to run on a limited basis. The trips will be
increased as the snow totals increase.
- Oct 2004 All sign
work completed, and the trail system is ready for a productive
season.
