No time for a in-depth report w/pics today, however there is no change from before.
It has been right at freezing for the last 2 days, and things are getting soft. Trails have not improved, but not gotten a whole lot worse either as we have had no traffic. I will make the decision to run groomers tomorrow later tonight when I can get on the trail and take a look first hand. At this time, I can't recommend riding out of Iggy. The Norther trails are in better shape, but not a whole lot better. Not turning out to be all that great of winter.

Glass half full or half empty!
I hear the snow is coming and things are looking up for the up coming weekends! With weather like this it will be a nice extended season with longer days of riding. Just looking at the bright side.

We're coming up this weekend, no matter what the trails look like. We'll probably stay in Newberry and give that a shot. Just remember, the trails can run out of snow, but the bar isn't going to run out of beer!

We are coming up also and will be bagging it to Grand Marias for the night. I think they have beer at the Lake Superior Brewery??
Anyone who wants to make the ride from Brevort to Grand Marias is welcome to come along. Pat 586-863-7333 P.S. I am short a sled so if anyone wants to sell a machine Saturday morning I will bring cash up with me.

I can't make this stuff up.
A local kid just road his sled down the alley. Drives by almost every day. Today he was followed... by a guy on a Deere riding lawn mower. No I am not kidding, he just went by again - must have gone down to NAPA or somthing. Even has the mowing deck on - not a blower too. Its not that bad around here yet. Actually below freezing right now, and the mist that came down last night all froze. We are not loosing any snow really, but the damage has already been done. More snow soon please. All I ask for is a foot (or 10)

I'll have to bring UP my JD mower sometime in the winter to repeat the experiment

I rode the trails this weekend and thought they were great considering the lack of snow fall. The only trail that I thought was bad was the RR grade out of St Iggy but then it was fine once you got past the Rock Bottom. Keep an eye on John Dee's forcast... its a good one!
Thanks! Pat

Kinda funny that you caught that groomer run. Dave was only bringing #5 back to town for some maintenance.

Our ride out of Newberry was decent. Things good pretty soupy by the end of the day. One of the our Polaris machines went down so we had to rent a Rev 550 Ski-Doo. In addition to that, one of the guys riding with us had a Yami SXViper. After riding on on all 3 that weekend, I'm seriously considering a move to Ski-Doo. That Rev rode and handled better than I thought a sled could! I have to be careful because the next thing you know, I'll be changing my name on here, buying new riding gear, I'll have to take the Polaris sticker off of my truck... I'll have to get mine through this winter and then make a decision in the off-season. And this is where Wink,Matt, and Kenny pipe in....
Todd, the Yami was a nice sled too. Lots of power, nice sounding exhaust, rode great.... I just couldn't get over the new Rev. There has been a lot of research that has gone in to that thing!

Funny you should say that I rode a REV 550 fan I had a couple of weeks ago because I was without a sled at the time and after that weekend I sold my wifes 06 Polaris Classic and went out and bought a REV GTX 550 fan for her and a 600 REV GTX for me. Its hard to beat the ride of a REV.
