Hello,
I'm from Holly, Michigan. I'm a bit of a greenhorn to snowmobiling.
The only sled I've owned is a "79" Kawasaki Invader I use to ride around the property and check to see if the road is drifted over or not.
I work on it the rest of the time

I just bought a 2000 Ski-Doo Grand Touring sled.
Now that I have a "real" sled my wife I and want to trail ride in the U.P.
We love camping up there...well we love the U.P. so the plan is to camp in summer and ride in winter.
It's michigan right....that's what you do! Love Michigan

Welcome to the Straits site. If you ride the St. Iggy area, you'll never want to go anywhere else. Awesome trails and some of the best people you'll ever meet.
Some of the people I've met there I now consider some of my best and closest friends.

Hello Everyone, My name is Tony, from Warren. I have a place near Rose City, and enjoy regular trips to your part of the UP. I am always please at the trail conditions and commend everyone involved in that effort. I have 2 Ski Doo"s MXZ800 and an older Formuls SLS 500. I have been riding for 5 years and always make a UP trip annually, this year we will enjoy your area on Feb 8 for 5 days can't wait. I really want to make the crossing from St Ignace to Mackinaw or is it Mackinac can't remember what spelling depending on what side of the straights you are, on any advice for that trip??
Thank you for the great web site where do I send my check to help..

I thought Wink told me yesterday that you were coming next weekend? Oh well I'm sure we'll get together soon enough.

I'm a NuB to sledding and to this forum.. Name is Paul and the last time I was in the U.P. was 30 yrs ago...(only a visit)..OMG, I know..Broke a leg skiing in ishpeming and never returned.. I live in TN and have started a new hobby...."Sledding".. just had like 3 inches last week and it stayed for 3 days..3 awesome days of riding.. Anyways, I will be making many trips to the U.P. in the near future. I bought a 98 srx700 (bender clutch/can) and a 00 indy 500 as my starter sleds..I will upgrade sleds if I stay w/ the sport.. Visited gaylord 4 wks ago and loved it.. Usually stay around the Cadillac/traverse city area..I make about 4-5 winter trips to MI.. Looking for some info on trails/hotels in the area around St. Ignace for this sunday 2-15-09.. I hope the warm weather GETS OUTTA HERE.. Thx so much for any help.. btw my sleds are registered in MI b'cuz my state doesn't recognize sleds in TN.. Imagine, a state that doesnt want your tax dollars.. l0l.. p.s. I leave my sleds in MI for those wondering about trailering soooo far..

I live down here but do not attend the race events. I do own a Harley Electra Glide and LOVE the Bike Week activites. Hotel goes crazy during the special events and unfortunately during Bike Week, we get a couple of the riders who get killed while visiting here.

By the way, I have this vintage 1973 Lifeliner ambulance which I throughly love. Here is a before and a after picture. I bought it in Dec 2007 and have repainted it, got all the mechanics working, along with the lights and sirens. We used it in the local Christmas parade, local county fair, and now it will be at the grand opening of the visitors and convention center Feb 22nd.

Hi, my name is Bill and my girlfriend is Brenda. We are from Dayton, Ohio and have 2 Cats, 600ZL, and a 700 Sabercat, been coming up for 5 years. This is a great area to ride and the trail reports are very accurate. Will be up this weekend. Thanks for all the hard work that goes into keeping the trails in tip top shape!

Hi,
My name is Bob and I live in Williamsburg, near Traverse City. I moved back to MI in '05 after living in Virginia Beach for the previous 18 years. Snowmobiling sure has changed quite a bit in 18 years. Anyhow, I live close to the Grand Traverse trails and do quite a bit of riding in the Mackinaw , Pellston and Harbor Springs area. I have an '05 RX 1 Yamaha and a '97 Vmax 600 that I split my riding time on. My wife is a NC native and although she has adapted nicely to MI she would rather enjoy the beauty of the outdoors through a pane of glass, at least until the temps warm up. I would love to find somebody that knows the UP trails to join up with one of these weekends. Mainly around St Iggy. If you see a black RX1 on the trail with checkered graphics on the hood say hello.

This is Miles, a newby that lives in Grand Rapids but have a cabin in Paradise. Took a round trip from there to Cedarville, Trout Lake and back a few weeks ago. Paradise was packed as it was their Mardi Gras weekend, everybody in the U.P. must have been there because all the other trails seemed empty!
Matter of fact, going up again this weekend, wondering how the trails over that way are....the roads from Kinross to the south were pretty thin.

Hey everyone, My name is Adam. I live just east of Toledo, and for you who know where the davis besse nuclear power plant is I can see it from my back yard. I have been snowmobiling since I was young, not sure when I started on my own but I do remember riding with my dad on a John Deere LiquiFire to go ice fishing on lake Erie, so that has been at least 15 years ago. I am 21 now and don't ice fish anymore. I ride an '09 Skidoo MXZ X 800. I have been going up to the UP for about 5 years now and started officially trail riding on a '98 Mach Z 800. Last season was the first season I rode out of St. Ignace and I forever will be riding out from there. I used to stay in Newberry or McMillan, I may still stay there but I am going to drop in St. Ignace at ride up from there, why drive when you can ride right!

See you on the trails, keep the shiny side up and if you cant do that, polish both sides.
