Default Trail Conditions 1-25-18

I am out of town with a family emergency, so quick summary from the limited info I have gathered.

"Big Storm" on Monday dumped 4-8" topped with a bit of rain. Good packing snow which in some areas took 2 groomer trips just to pack down.

A breakdown is exactly what you would expect. All of the trails are good, not great with a 3-4" base, some central areas in the woods are better with 5"-6" packed. There are a couple thin areas on the grade on the South half. The forecast on Friday & Saturday is going to tear up the trails, hopefully we can salvage them on Sunday.

Quote:
Thursday: Scattered snow showers, mainly before 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 27. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 40. Southeast wind around 15 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Breezy.

Saturday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21.

Sunday: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 11.

Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 18.

Default WARNING BRIDGE CLOSED

Conditions are really bad for this situation. It is above freezing, so ice is falling, but not a ton above freezing, so it is not falling fast. It was kinda cloudy here all day, so good news, trails held up pretty good, bad news, the sun didn't dig into that ice and drop it off the bridge.

My info said that as of 6pm Friday, there was still 50% ice up there. With the rate of melting, baring a warm rain (which looks to be going West of us now) the best guess is it won't open until after lunch tomorrow.

Sorry guys, but hope that helps your plans.

Been awful quiet on here the last few days. It's the end of January, and so far this has been a frustrating winter. It's been like a yo-yo around here. Cold and snow, followed by 50 degrees, followed by rain. And the cycle starts all over again. I sure hope February and March brings on the snow machines, and keeps it coming for awhile. Planning on coming UP next Thursday night (February 8th) for a short saddle bag trip with the posse. Hope to ride out of Iggy on the 9th.

Our group was supposed to leave in the morning for Iggy. We had eight rooms booked at the Budget Host.

Just canceled the rooms an hour ago.

Just not enough snow and the weather reports are to sketchy. Going to take a bunch of snow to bring the trails back.

We are heading up to the Soo for the I 500. I checked the trails up there yesterday and they were in fair condition. Hopefully this cold and then warm weather will get the heck out of here and just be cold for the rest of the winter. kind of depressing around here need some snow

This winter has been crazy to say the least. It sure looks like we have some cold weather for awhile.

I'm also headed to the Soo this weekend Kevin. Hope to see you guys there.

Not sure when I will be UP again. Probably the weekend of Feb 9th.

Gotta get plans together with AllSeason and Skeet.

Definitely a screwy winter...

Maybe we can meet up to ride next weekend....

I might be headed to Skeet's cabin this weekend with AllSeason and my buddy Rob. Will probably ride UP on Saturday.

How's trail out of Brevort? Is it ride-able north to Trout Lake?

Just talked to a guy on the Ski-Doo forums. He drove through St. Ignace and said all is good.
