All I can say is holy cow what a weekend! It was running in the mid 70s, and I actually ran the AC for a while to get rid of the humidity!

A little confusion, but I think we got everything accomplished that we set out to do, and a couple extras. West trails should be all set, and a normal day next Saturday should fix up the Eastern end.

All of the guys made a valiant effort to get their tasks accomplished... even with the roving groups of women stopping to try to distract them.

Bill and I did the trail brushing on the South 1/2 of the West trails, and also hit up most of the bridges too to get them opened back up. Killing trees is fun, so I forgot to take any pics, except after after clearing out the Iron Bridge as our last project.

A big thanks to all those who came up to help out!!!

It's gonna be cooler, but here is hoping the weather holds for next weekend too.

SO, over 80 last Saturday and then a drop of 40d on Monday, and heavy frost on Tues. NOthing but 40s in the forecast now, so winter is creeping in. Crazy high winds and rain again today, making our second November type storm this week.

Tomorrow forecast has been changing so much I haven't reported it. Looks better than just a couple days ago, now they are saying a chance of showers in the afternoon, and in the low 40s all day. I will take it as the 100% chance of all day rain was bumming me out. Guess we won't be running the AC in the truck tomorrow.

We will it it again regardless and see if we can get it finished up.

Boy what a difference a week makes! We will still blame Saturdays weather on Kenny as he used to bring the curse of the rainstorm. 80d and sunny last weekend, 30d with rain and a little sleet this weekend. Doesn't matter, the crew powered through and I think 99% of the trails are brushed and signed and ready for the winter. A huge thanks to those who gave up trick-or-treating time to come up and help out. There is no way I could get these trail ready without your help. We have a small (ish) very dedicated out of town group that help year-in-year-out with no more thanks then a breakfast and dinner and handshake. It is volunteers like you that make these sport possible and self sufficient!

OK, so we had 2 signing crews that took case of the East and South trails, and once again I was on a follow-up logging.. I mean brushing crew, this time paired up with Ben and his 2 boys. We kicked butt all day in the rain. This time I actually remembered to pull out my camera a couple times.

We did a ton of polesaw work, as even if it looks good to a atv, or even a truck, remember we have a 11' tall groomer, on top of hopefully 3' of snow, so you really have to get the hanger trees.

Hre we see a place where we opened up the stop-ahead sign

The big theme to yesterday was water. Water everywhere, both in the air, and on the ground. Ken said his cabin saw more the 6" of rain last week.
The creeks were running full, ditches and woods just flooded out.

First we see Connor inspecting the flow of a culvert just outside of Trout Lake. Like alot of places, this area is not a creek, just a equalization culvert and I have never see water flowing like there here.

Next we see a place where the beavers have plugged an important culvert solid.. again. I had it cleaned 3 weeks ago, and will have to get an excavator up there again.

Next you will see a place where there was no ditch, no creek, yet there was probably over 250 gal/min pouring out of the woods onto the trail. And since the trail was a little dished out here, it was running down the trail over a mile before it was finding it was off.

Never fear, we took looked back to our youth, and me and the boys used our heels to cut a small channel over teh bank, then placed a rock and small tree in the trail. In about 15 minutes 85% if the water was cutting through its new channel that was 8" deep and 2 feet wide. It was unbelievable how much was racing across the trail here where I have never seen water before.

We had a great time, Collin was so tired after that he was asleep before we hit dry land in Mackinac City. Carson stayed dry in the truck most of the day, but he sure was impressed with Neil's beaver work on the flooded trail! Trails look great, we should be up at least once this year to ride. Thanks for the hospitality, always a pleasure to help out.

Yep it was cold and wet with periods of wet snow mixed in. I didn't get any pics this time, but Neil's pretty much show the story.

Thanks again Ben for coming up with your boys and helping out!
