Default Brushing & Signing 2017

WOW! Summer disappeared on me, and now Sept is half over! Of course we had 3 nice days this summer, and this weekend is better then all of them combined! As to that, time to start thinking of winter activities!

This thread is your one stop shop for our bushing & signing for this year, 2017.

For a number of years we stated that unless something strange happens, our official dates will ALWAYS be the 3rd, and 4th Saturday of October. That means that this year our brushing Saturdays are supposed to be October 21st and 28th.

----------------------- General Info -----------------------

If you have never been to a brushing weekend, head on up for a good time, with some hard work, and interesting stories! An appreciation gathering will be Saturday evening at a local tavern, with dinner drinks and tall tales.

We have most of the tools we will need, but if you have a favorite chainsaw or screw gun bring it for a bit of a workout.

On Saturday, optional meeting at the truck stop, 7am for breakfast.
Meet 8am at the Super 8 on US-2 in St. Ignace to load up and head out on assignments.

Rooms discounts will be available at the Super 8 & Budget Host for those helping out.

We load up, and hit it hard and sign of our trail system in one day. Some brushing needs are met too as of course, there are also always trees to be killed! We work hard, then we will play hard and have dinner afterwords at a local tavern.

Thanks to all those who do so much for our club & the program in general.
Lets get a roll call going and see who we will partying or um, working with.
See ya soon.

I hope Kevin brings Kathy along... she usually brings some good trail grub
Looking forward to being UP with everyone to be a part of getting the best trail system in the state ready for snow.

That is scary... good wishes to you both.

What the heck is going on? I have several people/pets that I know that we have either lost, or had close calls in the lost month.

Less than a week out, and the weather looks like it is supposed to be good for Saturday as of right now.

Looks like we are kinda heavy on the first weekend, if you have a choice of which you can come.

Right now as I see it:

21st
Wink, Floyd, Kenny, Kevin, 5/6 from Grand Rapids, and prob Ken

28th
Kenny, Todd, Ben, and prob Ken.

If these number hold, I am planning on 2 signing crews starting on the West end coming East, and 1-2 brushing crews following them on the 21st.

The 28th will them try to finish up signing the Cedarville and RR grades with 1 signing crew, or 2 if we get 1 or 2 more people on that day.

I am planning on tractor brushing the whole RR Grade this year, so there should not be any brushing on that route.

Our brusher needs repair (got the $$, just mechanic to fix it), so I contracted the RR grade out... they are mowing 4' shoulders today, and then we are going to talk about heavy brushing after I see what it looks like.

Just so you know... the grader blade is on though....

Phone the neighbors and wake the kids, I am finally making the trail prep on the 21st. It has been 5 years since I have helped out, just a slacker I guess. It will be good to be out with everyone getting the best trails in shape.

For those coming up this weekend, if you have a favorite chainsaw (lighter is better for brushing then big logging saws) you are welcome to bring it up. We will be running 2-4 brushing crews along with 2 signing crews on Saturday.

Remember, breakfast 7am at the truckstop, then meet at the Super 8 to go on trail.
