Exclamation Broken arm

Well as most of you know, on February 6th my ski caught something in the trail and the sled tipped and threw me off going about 45 mph.

My left shoulder took the impact, breaking the humorous bone just below the shoulder ball.

On Wednesday, Feb 10th a surgeon installed a plate and 12 screws to put me back together. My left arm was confined to a sling, no cast was necessary.

On my follow-up visit last Wednesday, I was told the sling could be removed around the house or at work, but I should wear it while traveling.

So now comes the physical therapy to get as much range of motion and strength back.

Attached are a couple pics of the hardware in my arm now...

Robo Todd. Good to hear the arm is healing. Will the pins and plate stay in your arm?

Good thing you explained the picture, I thought that was part of your turbo assembly! LOL!!!!

How did the pocket protector hold up through impact????

Glad to hear you're on the mend Todd. Back in the saddle in no time.

Rebuild it better and heavier then original - that is the way you do tings right!

In honor of you Todd, wanted to let you know that I took my first, and last trip on a sled this season on Sunday. Worked on the Island for 9 hours, and put 12.6 miles on! How 'bout that mileage, all on a Yamaha!

Ran great. Gotta thank Belonga's for loaning me the setup, only way to get around when I'm working on the island. With no ice bridge, everyone had to rely on transportation that was already on-island.

Glad the sled wasn't too damaged, you really couldn't tell when we loaded it up. Few bits and pieces here and there and you will have the bug again next fall.

You can thank Beano for making the sled look a little better. After the squad picked you UP and while we were waiting for Neil to come and get your sled in Engadine, Beano worked some of his magic straightening out a few things.

Yeah the healing is coming along, out of the sling now. Started some in home re-hab over the weekend.

Yeah, the TSA probably won't be my friend

Quick update:

Saw surgeon last week for follow-up visit, arm is progressing well, regained my driving privileges, too.

Started physical therapy this week to get mobility and strength back closer to normal.

Doc says in 6 weeks I should be in good shape...

Oh, and the sled is fixed up too, needed a left hood panel and the clutch/secondary cleaned (contaminated with oil) along with a new belt.

Need to replace the windshield yet, haven't decided what style to put on.

It's great to hear the healing process is progressing, Todd. It's hard to believe it's been 2 months since you lived up to your "Bay City Roller" name. I'm sure it felt good just to get your driving privleges back.

Thanks, Floyd, I have a feeling the hardest part is going to be the ongoing physical therapy for the next several weeks. A bit sore today after yesterday's session.

Great to see your doing good man! You scared the crap out of me when I came blazing back for ya. Come up over the hill and see you flipped over laying on the trail. My heart sank soon as I seen ya up ahead. Between my moms accident and that one I think you guys are Tryin to give me a heart attack. Just glad everyone is ok after the dust settles. Safety first! Can't wait for the snow! #ShinySideUp
