Default Trail Conditions 1-26-15

Great weekend for once, and onto another great week. Last weeks snow packed onto a fantastic trail and there are no major problems to report out there. The coming weeks temps look great to maintain what we have, mild in the day, and cold at night, with just a little mid-week snow. Too bad we are not getting the NYC storm, but we will do with what we have. Lake ice is forming fast, and looking much better for pond hockey, so stay tuned to where that will be - it WILL NOT be cancelled.

The groomers are runnig great. Randy and I spend 4 hours Friday night repairing some stuff on #6 front blade, then another 12 hours on Sat fixing all that is wrong with big green drag. The result is all the blades are now back on and working great - we hope it stays that way after 6 lbs of welding rod!

Now I know I have been slacking on the trail candy pics, so here is a little taste from groomer Dave from Saturday night, and a freshly fixed big green.

some forecasts are starting to show some decent snow mid-week. in the 2-6" range, and being fairly widespread. That will put us over the top into excellent conditions if it is not all lake effect.

Hi, I was just wondering if there have been any snowmobiles going across the Ice Bride to Mackinac Island.

Thanks for the eye candy, Neil! Makes us look that much more forward to coming UP this weekend. We appreciate all you do for the club to make the area so great to ride.

Not even close to being enough ice yet.

Heard reports of logging/plowing of trail 2 east of rexton. Can you please confirm. I assume I can bypass by riding 473 to Trout lake. Thanks, George

They are plowing about 7 miles of the Caffey trail, which is SE of Rexton. It is snow covered and passable, but not the usual fun and fantastic ride.

Thanks Neil. If I take 473 to Trout lake do I bypass the plowed part? George

Yep,
Jump to this link: http://www.msasnow.org/wp-content/up...gnace_1748.pdf
The logging is about where the label SM-2 is between Caffey Corner, and the North-South trail from Brevort to Trout Lake.

Trails in good shape?
Dunno, but the groomer needed something yesterday, so I hopped in the truck and took the RR Grade to Castle Rock at 65 mph. Ya, it was smooth.

The trails are in great shape and you should have no problem heading to the Soo.

Neil, we ran your trails yesterday over to Curtis and back thru Trout lake and back to little bear arena. Nice ride! You've done a nice job with minimal snow. George

George, still hoping to get over to your island this year when the snow gets better. It's been a few years and I'd like to do it again. The ferry ride alone is neat.

I've still got your number.

Wink

WINK, we're just packing trails now. Need a good dump and we're in business. This is the latest we have waiting to get going in a long time. Cedarville, Pickford and Drummond have been missed by snow so far.
