Default Trail Conditions 1-21-15

It got COLD again last night. For the most part the bay it froze all the way to Mackinac Island, just since Monday, albeit with only about 2" of ice, but it is working. Location of Pond Hockey on Feb 14th is still in question.

Both groomers ran last night, and the majority of the system was covered and everything is in decent shape, including the Cedarville connector.

The areas of concern are:

Just outside of Iggy, the RR Grade is pretty thin for about a mile. Some rocks, but passable

And, once you reach the first intersection North, take the West trail, as if you continue North on the RR Grade, you will run up to just South of Moran, where there is about 1.5 miles of nearly impassable trail it is so thin. You can try off-trail along here, but it is on your own.

Also the Cut River trail is quite thin, but passable. We are only going to groom that one once a week until we get more snow in an attempt to keep the snow clean and dirt free.

The forecast is showing cold temps, except for Friday, and really no new snow to speak of. This coming weekend will be more of the same, thin but ridable. We make the best with what we have to work with, come on up, you will have a good time.

NOT OUR TRAIL:

*******TRAIL CLOSURE ALERT******
Part of Trail #480 the Kinross to Raco Trail will be CLOSED temporarily starting Thursday Jan 22, 2015 for 3-6 days while water flow is restored to the stream bed. They will have a joint operation with the MDNR, USFS, and SSMSA to fix the problem. They had hoped to able to do it a week ago but had to wait until they could get everyone together. The gates will be closed at both ends of the effected section signed as closed. Once the trail freezes enough to hold the groomer it will reopen.
