Default Trail Conditions 2-13-14

Things are starting to get back to normal around here. Our entire system has been groomed 1 1/2 times over the last 3 days and we are in really good shape. Bob is in the middle of an overnight run on the North loop right now. The rental 4-track tops out at 8 mph with our drag, so it is taking quite a bit longer then with our tractors. That tractor will come South either tonight or tomorrow morning, and by tomorrow evening we should have 2 machines to do overnight runs on both the North & South loops.

Trails are in really good shape with some lower traffic this week, and we should be able to hold onto that condition through the weekend no problem.

Forecast is just about perfect with normal daytime temps and cold nights to set the trails. A little new snow will make things look nice for sure.

Quote:
Today Snow after 2pm. High near 24. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Tonight Snow. Low around 20. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of around 2 inches.
Friday Snow likely, mainly before 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 25. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
Friday Night A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 1. Wind chill values as low as -10. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph.
Saturday Mostly sunny, with a high near 13. Northwest wind around 5 mph.
Saturday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around -2.
Sunday Mostly sunny, with a high near 12.
Sunday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 6.
Washington's Birthday Snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 26.
Monday Night Snow likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18.
There is still logging going on in the core of our system, and they are trucking day & night, watch for log trucks on plowed roads.

This weekend is the big LaBatte Blue UP Pond Hockey Championship out on the bay. Almost 200 teams with compete this weekend on 36 rinks carved out of the wild ice on Moran Bay in Lake Huron. If you have never seen this event you gotta check it out!

In 2 weeks, it is time to get your golf on! Yep, the Ice Chip gold scramble is heating up out in the straits of Mackinac, and this your is bigger and better then ever. If you just can't wait to do some golfing, or just want to try something new, come on out and have a ton of fun at this event, which is newly sponsored by Cheboygan Brewing Company.

This weeks trail candy pics are of an overnight groom through the rock cut on the RR Grade. If you have always zoomed through this area, you should slow down and check it out, it is one of the neat places hiding on our trail, right in plain sight.

ALSO, last Friday when I recovered #5 from out in the woods, I had the opportunity to run #6 down the trail without a drag on. That doesn't happen very often, so Chris and I took a few minutes to get some beauty shots.

Yepper, looking good around here. Pond Hockey teams rolling in, the crews are busy plowing rinks and making higher banks. The groomer ran ALL DAY yesterday, for 20 hours, and fixed every corner in the entire system, doubling and tripling some of them up to run us through the rest of the year.

Best news in a awhile, Tractor #6 is on the Bridge right now, and will be grooming our trail in just a few hours.

All of the trails have been done in the last 24 hours, and are in great to fantastic shape, the big question is why are you reading this and not on the trail????

Cool Re: Trail Conditions 2-13-14

Had some amazing trails yesterday. Rode out of St. Iggy with Snowpro7c and stopped in Newberry for breakfast. Took out of their to Curtis for some sled repairs. Headed to Seney and then back to Timber Charlies for lunch. Went over to Engadine and into Naubinway where the trail got super rough. From their we stopped in Rexton for gas and back to Iggy. Had an amazing ride on mostly smooth trails!!
