2011 Grooming Wrapup
Well, even thought I shut down grooming some time ago, today was the official end to another dismal season around the straits area. I would like to offer up a huge thank you to all those people who helped out around here through the last grooming season.
This year we saw a few new faces in the tractor - and due to low snow conditions, still have yet to get 2 people out and trained up, for the second year in a row! This season was another really low snow year, but with a big push on that last storm, did not turn out as bad as last year.
We had 8 people combine together to cover only 440 hours grooming up 3435 total miles this season. For comparison, a 'normal' season will see around 10,000 miles groomed over our 101 miles of trail.
For a second straight season Groomer Dave leads the pack, with 1,122 miles, but this time we have the new driver, Wayne hot on his heals with 968 miles groomed. Could be a big shootout next season! Our newest, and youngest driver at 16 years (just turned 17) Cody had a respectable 350 miles, and has defiantly earned his place in next years rotation. Another new driver out of Cut River - Bob has a great 622 miles of just awesome grooming. A thank you also goes out to Paul, Quentin, and Todd for their help.
We are all looking forward to a nice warm summer, and then killer snow amounts for next season!
Next up on the agenda... soon we will be putting the grader blade, and brusher unit on the groomers. They will be concentrating on the Western Caffey & Cut River trails this season.
Warm up your ATVs, and shine up your boats, for the summer is about upon us.
Look for brushing & signing in the beginning of October to get the trails officially ready for another great season of riding. Hope to see ya then!

Re: 2011 Grooming Wrapup
Thanks for the update. We sure tried, but couldn't make it snow anymore. I was out in the woods yesterday and it really looks like alot of work to be done for next year. Trails are still half covered with snow and water. Lots of traffic in the woods to for this time of year. Hopefully things will dry out a bit before the April 30th ATV ride.
