Default Hey.... need to vent

I left work early today and Kathy is at work, and I need to talk or vent I guess you could say.
I have been having some health issues. Met with the DR. on wed. and things could be very serious. The Dr. is scheduleing me for another test.
What is driving me crazy is not knowing for sure what the issue is!
( I just soon not say till we know for sure)
This has been going on for a few months. I have had a good healthy life till now. This is making me nuts!!
So if you guys could say a few prayers for me, that would be great. And I thank you.

Thanks for letting me vent.
God Bless,
Kevin

Keep your head up, Kevin. Whether it is health issues, work worries, or whatever else, you need to stay positive. I heard a while back that Americans worry entirely too much. They did some sort of study, and found that something like 90% of things people worry about or have fear something negative will happen never become about. I know it's easier said than done, but know that we are thinking about and praying for you. Keep your chin up (I know I'm being repetitive), and know you have friends and family to help keep it that way.

When I feel like crap I think of snowmobiling and now the ATV's. Get out in the woods... its works wonders.

My Aunt Sally up in Brevort seems to have a direct link to the big guy up stairs so I will have her talk to him.

Got the results back from the blood work and the MRA. Both come back normal. That is great news, because the Neurogest was thinking possible brain aneurysm. But that is not the case,THANK GOD!

What I am having is headaches everyday and all day 24/7 . As soon as the meds wear off the headache is back full force.
Looked at a lot of info on the net. Kathy and I are thinking maybe Cluster headaches, but are leaning toward allergies of some kind.

Sometime the Drs just give you pain meds and send you on your way. I need to find the cause here, don't want to live on pain meds the rest of my life.

We need to see what the next move is now.

Kevin,
My dad is a tough guy. About 10 years ago he started having some very nasty headaches. They would come and go, but usually last for over 24 hours at a time, every other day or so. He started going through several bottles of Excedrin a week. It got so bad that HE decided to see a doctor. And when they got bad HE wanted to go to emergency. After normal test after normal test, they could not figure out what was going on. A specialist finally decided to do an ultrasound on some of the main arteries going to the brain. They found out that one was undersized, and the restricted blood flow was causing the horrible headaches.

(My theory is Excedrin thins your blood, thus letting more through the restricted artery - easing the headaches for some time)

They put him on some special blood thinners, and he has had little problem since. He went to maybe a dozen doctors, and only one had this idea, so my point is if you can, keep trying, there is someone out there that knows what is going on.

Good luck.

Yeah it seems the medics just want to prescribe some pills and send ya on your way these days.

Also I think the insurance co's are starting to refuse some of the more expensive tests (i.e. MRI) so the docs are in a tough spot. This is what happened to my neighbor recently with his lower back pain. Just give him pain pills / muscle relaxers and come back in 4 weeks...2 weeks later and he's still got back pain.

Hope someone can find the cause/solution, Kevin.

You got that right Todd.
Had to pay for the first MRI , Ins. covered the other MRA.

Well it's now 8 months of headaches. Last week I got a second opinion. So last Friday we went to Michigan Head-Pain & Neurological Institute(MHNI) in Ann Arbor. We were there from 7:30am- 5:00pm. They are very experienced and knowledgable in headaches and head injuries. They did blood work, EEG, EKG,Pain Psychologist. Met with the Dr. for a hour, not just 5 mins.
Back in 2005 I injuried my lower neck lifting a sled. Went to a Chiropractor for a year and it feels fine. But MHNI says that could be the cause. Need a MRI on my neck to be sure.
They put me on more meds. YEA MORE MEDS!!!
But at lest these are working!!!! For the last 3 days I have not had the headaches I have had in the past. They are still there from time to time but very weak and I can deal with that. I go back in 3 weeks, I am trusting in these people.
I need to be healthy when the snow starts to fly.

Just had my second visit at MHNI and my diagnosis is Hemicrania Continua.

Hemicrania continua was first described in 1981,at that time around 130 cases were described in the literature. However, rising awareness of the condition has led to increasingly frequent diagnosis in headache clinics, and it seems that it is not as rare as these figures would imply. The condition occurs more often in women than men and tends to first present in adulthood, although it has also been reported in children as young as 5 years old.
Cause and diagnosis

The cause of hemicrania continua is unknown. There is no definitive diagnostic test for hemicrania continua. Diagnostic tests such as imaging studies may be ordered to rule out other causes for the headache. When the symptoms of hemicrania continua are present, it's considered "diagnostic" if they respond completely to indomethacin.
The factor that allows hemicrania continua and its exacerbations to be differentiated from migraine and cluster headache is that hemicrania continua is completely responsive to indomethacin. Triptans and other abortive medications do not affect hemicrania continua.

Symptoms:
In addition to persistent daily headache of HC, which is usually mild to moderate, HC can present other symptoms. These additional symptoms of HC can be divided into three main categories:
  1.
Autonomic symptoms:
    • conjunctival injection
    • tearing
    • rhinorrhea
    • nasal stuffiness
    • eyelid edema
    • forehead sweating

Stabbing headaches:
    • Short, "jabbing" headaches superimposed over the persistent daily headache.
    • Usually lasting less than one minute.
  2. Migrainous features:
    • throbbing pain
