Default Brushing & Signing 2010

Lots going on around the UP, but the official brushing & signing dates for the Straits Club have been set at the long rumored October 2nd & 16th.

We have no major maintenance projects with the state this year, so we will be working on the signing & then brushing to get the trails prepped for the coming season. Just maybe we won't be working on Halloween this year!

Post up here if you are planning on attending the event & let us know which day(s) you can help out. If there is a day that works out better then those post that up too, and if we get enough interest, we will add a date.

Thanks to all those who do so much for our club & the program in general.
See ya soon.

Might want to get in touch with Westhouse since it's that early. He might not even get on here til the end of Oct.

Talked to Westhouse already. Nothing going on down there that he knows about on either weekend. He is supposed to talk to 'the crew' at a school event this weekend and get ahold of me.

Hello all

I haven't been on here in awhile. Been remodeling and getting set up for the fall and winter season. I now have sugar beets and corn here for sale. Was just wondering when the brushing and signing was going to be so I got on to check. The 2nd of October I am going to have a fall ATV ride. I set the date before I learned about the first signing weekend so I apologize for that. I will be glad to help on the 16th. The ride will be simple and start out at cut river. Since there will be trail work going on, I will try to keep the 75 mile ride mostly to the west side to keep out of traffic. If anyone has any questions or further advice please give me a call
at 906-292-5636. Thanks wayne

I'm sorry guys but we will not be able to make either weekend. First weekend is football on Friday and college visits on Sat. and 2nd weekend is our last race. We will be up after Matt's football season to lend a hand if anything further is needed.

As for meeting up, we usually meet at the Truck Stop @ 7AM for Breakfast for those who would like, otherwise 8AM at the garage at the Super 8 Motel for work assignments.

For those who would like to come to town to help out, there will be special rates at the Super 8 and Budget Host Motels. PM me if you need details.

Not going to be able to make it now either weekend. I didn't think I had anything going but apparently I should have checked with my scheduler.

Curt and I will be coming up by car this weekend so we'll need to ride in somebody's truck out in the woods. Maybe we can tag along with Todd again. It will probably be all Curt and I can do together to keep Todd out of the cooler!!

The fantastic four went out and covered some good ground on Saturday. Everyone else was busy, so we took care of the Western trials, and covers 30+ miles of signing. The brushing crews will certainly have some work for them, there are quite a few corners that need attention on those trails.

Thanks to the Ohio 1/2 (Griz & Wink) and the Bay City Boy (Todd) for making the long trip up. It is kinda funny to see faces brighten up when that first sign post goes into the ground. Although if Griz had it his way, we would be replacing a lot most posts then we did!

Couple pics from the brushing.
Notice our fearless leader holding up the shovel.
Some great color in the trees.

Couple pics of the "Signing Trailer" that Neil and Jimmy D. made.
Notice all the compartments on the side for all the variations of signs.
The sign posts all go in the middle. The auger can hang on the back while traveling slow. The pole saw goes in the door on the back left corner.
Pretty well thought out.
