Default Trail Conditions 2-12-13

We survived the fairly major rainstorm and have come out OK. Everything is frozen back up this morning and very very crunchy. What we did loose is all the powder riding, and a good part of the cooling/lubrication snow on the RR Grade. There are portion especially though Moran that it looks like a skating rink. We sent the Iggy groomer out at what was supposed to be the perfect time last night, and it never cooled down, so we was squeegeeing slush in some portions of the trail Brevort machine is going out this morning to get things broken out and leveled back down. Iggy machine will run again either Wednesday or Thursday.
Stop me is you have heard this before – downed trees. Wayne came across a couple down, and a decent amount of bent over trees again. I know we have a good sized one near Trout Lake, Bobby will get it later today. Keep on the lookout though of the next few days, it should get warm enough to knock the ice off soon.

So we need snow again. Everything is flat fast smooth and ICY. Be careful out there, and in the meantime we will try to break the surface up to get some cooling action going.
Forecast doesn’t have a lot of snow potential, but the temps are good:
§ Tonight Occasional flurries. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21. West wind around 5 mph.
§ Wednesday Occasional flurries before 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 32. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
§ Wednesday Night Snow likely after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 25. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
§ Thursday Snow. High near 33. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
§ Thursday Night Cloudy, with a low around 16.
§ Friday A 20 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 20.
§ Friday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 6.
§ Saturday Mostly cloudy, with a high near 15.
§ Saturday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 3.
§ Sunday Partly sunny, with a high near 16

Pond Hockey is ON for this coming weekend, if you have never seen it and are in the area you got to check it out. Friday night is the Red Wings Alum hockey game at our ice rink, tickets are only $10. Saturday, 30 rinks of hockey, ice bowling, a bon fire and lots of LaBatte Blue. I will be down there for some time on Saturday for bowling. Come check it out!

We'll be there! Has anyone ever stayed at the Colonial Inn before? It was the only place we could find a room.

I'll be there with the fam! Will be riding the sleds into town. What's the best place to park a sled so we don't have to walk too far? Can we park on the ice?

Rooms are very scarce - and kinda expensive since everything is taken up by the pond hockey players.

Free shuttle are provided between the hotels and local bars all weekend - again all free.

Sled parking, you shouldn't ride out to the ice where the players are, not really a good access anyway. You can either ride to and park on the Starline dock but crossing main street will be a pain, or I think I would come into the ice rink, and park behind the museum kitty corner to NAPA. Don't ride around the museum property, but there is some area to park next to the trail by the alley road. You are pretty close there.
