Default Trail Conditions 3-25-19

Another great weekend on the straits trails. I talked to several people and they said things were just great, flat, and near perfect riding with mild temps.

We continue our long slow death here, but ey I still have a foot of snow in my front year, and 2 ft in the back! There is still 12-20in of snow on the trails, however we now have a few hazards to report which popped up Saturday and Sunday.
On the Cedarville trail, there is about 1/4 mile of plowed road that is down to gravel from the melting. If you want to go that way it is going to be tougher. (I heard Cedarville has not groomed our direction if that influences your riding decision).
There are a few water holes on the RR Grade, right out of Iggy, and there will be one opening up 3 miles North of town too. Now bad, perfectly passable, just there. Brevort Lake road is all pavement, you can ride the ditch easily for that mile, but be careful crossing the driveways (shoutout to Flip-Flop!)
West Burma road, will have a water hole open up by next weekend I can guarantee.
Other than that, trails are still in very very good condition. Lots of snow to ride, even our RR Grade in Hay Lake a& Moran are still snow covered and white. The pipeline also has tons of snow on it - and these are usually the first areas to melt down.

Things are cold and crunchy with little cooling snow first thing in the morning - hey is is the last week of March here. Forecast is more of the same, warm during the day, cold and night - with the exception of Wednesday it is supposed to be 45d and stay above freezing at night which will likely do some damage.

Quote:
TodaySunny, with a high near 33. Light west wind becoming northwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
TonightClear, with a low around 17. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
TuesdaySunny, with a high near 38. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
Tuesday NightMostly clear, with a low around 27. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
WednesdayMostly sunny, with a high near 44. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
Wednesday NightMostly cloudy, with a low around 39.
ThursdayMostly cloudy, with a high near 45.
Thursday NightPartly cloudy, with a low around 26.
FridayMostly sunny, with a high near 40.
Friday NightPartly cloudy, with a low around 27.
SaturdayPartly sunny, with a high near 38.
Saturday NightPartly cloudy, with a low around 22.
SundaySunny, with a high near 37.
Will you be able to ride next weekend? Yep very likely. Point to point riding is going to be pretty tough, but if you wanted to ride the corre of our system, all around Iggy - Brevort - Trout Lake- Rexton- Epoufette, I would guess you will encounter some water, and good trails. If you have the capacity I would suggest you ride before Wednesday nights rain to have a better shot at a good time.

We are still running groomers, and will reduce the schedule this coming week as needed to save some program money.

Thanks SnowVP for everything you do for the club and our sport of snowmobiling. It's also a lot of work to keep Bay City Roller and Flip-Flop in order including track side down!!!

TUESDAY UPDATE

Both machines ran last night and report very good to excellent conditions.

The couple of water holes filled in, but will likely resurface in the next couple of days. They are no issue to get through though.
Cedarville trail - has 1/2 mile of mud/gravel to get through by Mackinac Trail where they were plowing for the loggers.
Huckleberry Rd - up by Trout Lake, the paved portion is of course bare. The ditch where the trail is 'nasty'
Other than that it will be very hard in the mornings, and soft in the afternoons, and great riding. Get it while you can!!
