Default Trail Conditions 1-23-18

Howdy Folks. I had to unexpectedly go out of town. I have not been able to communicate with anyone in St. Ignace. I know the storm dumped several inches. I am going to try to get a message out from someone with conditions soon.

We got 4-5 inches of good snow yesterday in St Ignace, with just a bit of freezing rain to make it good and dense. No fluffy lake-effect stuff this time.
I rode out of St Ignace today, running the loop to Brevort, Epoufette, up to Rexton and then back to town via the Caffey Trail. Most of the trails were ungroomed but smooth enough for decent riding. You could already see a bit of sand and dirt along the pole line and in a few other places, but if it stays cold I think we'll be survive to the weekend. Lots of vehicle ruts (not associated with logging), I saw a couple of pickup trucks on the trails, with ice-fishing gear in back. Not sure where they thought they were going...

Thanks for the post.

Our group headed to Iggy on Jan 31, Feb 1-2-3. Staying at the Budget Host.

Hope the snow holds up and they get more. We had to cancel the last two years.

Also----Welcome to the site.

Will be there tomorrow morning...assuming we can ride from the arena with the new snow? Groomers running? We're hoping to make a day trip up to the casino and back.

Let us know what you encounter; I am planning to ride out of St. Ignace early Friday AM and going to try to make it to Drummond island - never rode that way but Les Chenaux club is indicating they have rideable trails.

Be careful if you ride on Drummond. Lots of rocks.

We have found you need a lot of snow to cover them.

If you have good snow on the Island it is a nice ride.

You can ride from Drummond to St. Joseph Island in Canada by following the marked Christmas trees if it has frozen. I never have. Think it is supposed to be 20 miles or so, at least what I have been told.

I'm to chicken....I was scared enough riding from Iggy to Mackinaw.
