Default Trail Conditions 2-11-19

Monday rolls around with another fine weekend in the books with great weather and great trails.

Yes there is a sparse treeline up to Mackinac Island.

There is a set of storms lining up for Michigan over the next 10 days, with supposedly 3 bigger ones with direct hits. The first is going to hit tomorrow morning with 5-8in of snow for the EUP.

It keeps stacking up and rolling in. It isn't giving us a chance to widen the trails out much, but they are in great shape. That is the good news.

Bad news, I think we lost the Brevort groomer last night. Will know later today for sure. If it is what I think it is we will be down for a week out there. I will update more when I know for sure.

Tractor is officially down.
Trucking to dealer tomorrow.

I need to figure out a modified grooming schedule and I will let you know what isn't going to be groomed as much.

So they just closed the Mac Bridge due to a crash.

And for the first time in my life, they closed the main street from Family Fair to Mackinac Trail to the casino on the North due to zero visibility and a 6 car pileup at the airport.

And this storm is just getting cranked up.

NOAA says we are STILL supposed to get 8in of snow by morning.

I haven't seen main street in 2 hrs.

Wife and I had a great ride today, 175 comfortable miles. Straits trails great as always, really all the trails were solid today. Thanks to all the groomers. Coming back into to St. Ignace the grade was pretty heavily drifted in all the usual spots, snow with crazy strong east winds. Lots of folks waiting for the bridge to open....

Well, I think I have figured out that it take me about 1 hour to plow, for every inch of snow we get.

I plowed for 9 hours today. Just saying.

Thanks to Baders crew. They retrieved #5 off Schoolhouse road this morning, and it is in route to service. 8 days and counting. Hopefully sooner.

Thanks to Ken who started our hot-seating rotation this morning.
Dave is up tonight.
Chris tomorrow morning.
Wayne tomorrow night.

You get the drift.
