Default Trail Conditions 3-31-08

The last day of the official season, but we are extended for another week!

It is foggy, 30d today with a very very light snow for this morning. We have had quite a bit of melting over the last few days. Outer trails are still in decent condition, and the RR Grade is now just about down to its ice base. All of the trails are seeing slushy tops that are freezing into ice during the night. There is still quite a bit of snow out in the woods trails, but the open areas are now starting to get thin. No dirt, mud to speak of yet, but they are getting thinner.

Of course, all of this will likely change in the next 48 hours. A big winter storm is headed this way, and the straits area is right on the edge of storm line. We could get 1" of rain, or we could get 6" of snow. Conditions are going to very wildly over a 20 miles span in this area.

Very late spring riding is still good around here. We will discuss it at meeting tonight, but I believe that we will plan on 1 or 2 more grooms, to prep things for the coming weekend, and then save the diesel for next season. I will still continue to update trail conditions as long as they are officially open.

And it begins. Starting with rain at 4:55 pm, and the radar looks just crazy right now. Will we be burried in snow, or covered in ice by morning? We will soon see.

It sure is crazy. It looks like you guys are right on the line and can go either way. Its beena good year. I hope you get the snow and someone can take advantage this week and weekend.
