Default Trail Conditions 2-26-08

A 1/4 inch of new snow has covered the brown around town brought out by yesterdays slight warm up. There was/is some bare pavement and a bit of gravel in the plowed sections heading to downtown and US-2 gas stations. Other then that, things are in very good condition, with both groomers scheduled to run today. It is currently 20d with a few flurries. This is expected to continue through the rest of the week.

Trails are good, snow cover is good, weather is good. I guess it is all good around here right now!

Todays trail conditions in history:
2-26-07
Major winter storm, tons of snow, lots of wind.... missed us. According to the weather radar, it looked like we were getting hammered all Sunday, and overnight, didn't happen in St. Ignace, not sure about farther North yet. We do have the wind, lots of it but the snow just did not develop until a little while ago, and they are reporting about 1" today.

The Trails again, have not changed. They are frozen hard now, ranging from gravel, to lots of snirt and ice, to some decent trails on near the Northern area.

2-27-06
Well if you were not up here, you missed a super weekend for snowmobiling! Groomer #6 was fixed late Friday night, and we were almost back to the normal schedule on Saturday morning. All the core trails are being groomed everyday, and the feeder trails are done at least every other day. The bases has picked up a couple more inches from Fridays storm. Off trail riding is the best it has been in years. Make your future plans now before town fills up again.

I went with a few guys to Tout Lake on Friday for dinner, grabbed a little off trail stuff on the way up. The RR Grade was a bit tore up even after Fridays groom, but everything else was like a super highway. Had dinner, and headed back, the farther South we went, the harder it was snowing, and by the time we crossed the Burma Grade, visibility was about nil! We were breaking 5+ of powder, on the trail! That was a neat ride. Storm total was between 5 and 8, and the groomers have gotten that all packed down and smoothed out for your riding pleasure.

Miles? This crazy guy came up Saturday morning, we rode sleds most of the day (Super off trail stuff) then went out grooming at 11pm, I woke up shortly before Todd came in on Sunday morning, and then we went to breakfast! Then he drove home! That is one way of cutting costs on lodging!!!

Thanks again Todd, I hear you are doing a great job. There will be a seat for you at the groomers dinner this spring if you can make the trip.

Oh, lets see, about 425 or so by truck, 110 by sled, and about 65 by groomer, all without any shut-eye.

Didn't need any lodging, didn't stop long enough to rest

I like to play hard when I'm UP there

We're coming up but no golf. He has to watch the dog next weekend. This is our last trip, probably bring the sleds home. We'll get there early Fri. afternoon and leave Sunday morning.

I had my weekends screwed up. She's gone next weekend-poker run-can't ride . I think a wandering through the woods is in order. We'll see
