Default Trail Conditions 2-08-08

It is fairly pleasant out this morning at 20d with light flurries. Forecast for this weekend gets rather cold, so bring an extra layer or 2 if you are planning a ride.

Both groomers are staged and ready to go for the weekend.

Trails are rated in very good condition, with no major problems to report. Things are firm, and there is plenty of snow on the trails, over a deep ice base.
The base stands between 6" and 14" depending on which area of the trails you are in. The tighter corners can be expected to some ice in them until the next major snowfall.

There were a few areas right inside town when getting to gas it was down to bare pavement. I created some self trails in the snowbanks to get us by until the next snowfall, The city is supposed to work with me to have a nicer trail through town.

Don't forget to mark you calenders for the Bent Ski Classic. If you like poker runs, you will LOVE this enhanced version, coming to you on February 16th.
Make your reservation today, and check out more infomation here: http://www.straitsareasnowmobileclub...=2624#post2624

I wondered about the Bridge when we left. What time did you try to go back home? We were in white-out conditions and ice covered roads most of the way home. Didn't run out of it till just north of Ft. Wayne. Bad ice south of Lansing-cars & trucks in ditch everywhere

Kenny, I was thinking about you guy's. If you had made it over the bridge. Wicked wind and cold for sure. The Red Cross were at the Little Bear, to help out people that were here. Every motel was full. The casino had 50 pickups and trailers there.
See you all next weekend.
We won't tear the trails up too bad for ya.

Don't get me wrong.... I couldn't be happier when it snows, it's cold, and we get to take the sleds out for a ride...But (-4) actual temp!? HOLY ANARCTIC CIRCLE!! Yesterday was just miserable...but we made it through. What time did they end up opening the bridge Kenny?

Mark, the trails were absolutly beautiful. We had about 8" fall Friday night and it was just beautiful out there. Of course I forgot my camera but Todd had his so I'm sure he will post a few pics. The only thing now is you have to watch is the drifting. Just got word a friend hit a drift heading home from my house last night and now has a broken collarbone

They opened the bridge back around 7ish. We decided to just stay and leave early this morning. We left at 3:30am today and I didn't see the road until about Grayling. The road was snow covered and a solid sheet of ice. I can't imagine what it was like last night. Needless to say I'm at work now and very tired

Jason, when we left this morning is was -10 actual.

So is there a functioning ice bridge to Mackinac Island from Ignace yet?

I don't believe so. I know the bay is frozen but didn't look like all the way across was yet.
