Default Trail Grading 2008

Grading got off to a good start today. I prepared the groomer, did some minor maintenance, and hooked up the blade. I was going to go for a short ride to make sure everything was working OK. Well, things were going so well, and the trail was laying out so nice, I went all the way to Moran and back. You can really tell that I graded this section last year, there was only one 1/2 mile section that was really messed up, and the RR grade is just so hard there, it will probably take years to fix it. I will get some pics on the next trip.

Saturday the 8th I graded the Cut River Trail. Weather was nasty, lots of rain, sleet, hail, snow, you name it. But this trail is pretty sandy so the rain didn't hurt too much. Later in the afternoon the precip pretty much ended.

Took a couple pics, the second is after I worked in a big corner that was bermed UP about 3 foot or so, now it's flat!

Todd,
You're the man! I wish I could help out up there as much as you do. I just need to figure out how to live and work up north...

Todd, when can we start doing our snow dance? I want to invite our friend from the Novi Show with the "High Performance After-Market parts" to assist in the matter

Well the trails don't officially open until Dec 1st, so I would guess Nov 29th would be a good time to start dancing with the "Stars"

Well, did another 5 hours of trail grading last night, this time on Burma West. I spent an entire hour on the 1000 feet West of the Hot Dog stop to fill and level those big holes that always developer there. We should see a big different this season. No pics this time either, as it was dark and raining the whole time. Next trip will probably be on Saturday.

You're really trying to spoil us this year on the trails, aren't you Neil?

Keeping the best trails in the state takes just a little (OK lot) of extra effort, from a lot of people.

Went out and did a quick grade on 5 more miles this morning. Only pissed off 1 hunter

Got a couple of pics with the camera phone. I forgot to get one of the 4 foot deep cut I made in the hillside along the pipeline. Took all that material and rolled it into the gully. Should make for a more smooth ride through there.

Also returned through the Burma West from Thursdays grading. The trail looked horrible, mostly because it was down pouring while I was grading that. Even though it looked real nasty, to rode quite smooth, and there was only one small water hole left. A quick pass through left it looking quite good. This should ride very nice this winter!

Only trails left, are the truck trail from Brevort to Trout Lake, and the RR grade from Trout Lake to Iron Bridge. I trained up a new driver yesterday. I have a contract due at the end of the month, so I need to find someone to drive. Everybody else is at camp!

No brush hog - yet, although there is more interest for it then I thought there would be. The dealer is working on a demo for us. It will be a very big stretch, at $24k, and no state funding.

The hot dog stop or some call the deere feed is the trail stop on the poker run at the burma grade and borland road.
