Saturdays temps really hurt around here. Many yards are now showing grass. Believe it or not, there still is an ice base on the trails. Sunday at noon, it is starting to rain here. It has been raining since about 11, and is going to hurt things pretty bad I think. The ice on the bay is taking a serious beating too, pond hockey is going to have to start thinking about plan "B"
The rain looks OT be about 1/2 way through and no sign of changing to snow yet. I will update again this evening.

6PM. The rain has stopped, the damage done. We did loose some snow, everything is just soaked. When/if the trails re-freeze, they are going to be total ice. We were supposed to get 4-8" of snow today, and I had groomer runs scheduled all this week. I fear the majority of the state is done for the time being.

Well, no more rain for now, but the temps climbed all day. Started at 34d, and went up from there, peaked at 38d about 8, and is down to 37d now.
It is January correct?

34d this morning, and it never went below freezing for the last several days. Fri/Sat/Sun really hurt around here. Lots of grass showing, other places are flooded. Trails are either ice, or gravel - they are done until we get some more snow. No grooming for the last 2 weeks, and non expected until we get some more snow.
Trails I know are shot: RR Grade from Iggy to Moran, and the Pipeline portion of trail #473 Things are not looking good. ![]()

11pm Monday night, and it still has not dropped below freezing. Radar says it is snowing in Grand Rapids. This is just wrong.

It's snowing here. Thinking about having a "group ride" in my back yard. Sort of a low mileage, high alcohol kind of thing.

Total new snow was less then 1". At least is it cold today 18d, and going to be colder tomorrow and Friday. Some ice has returned to the bay. Everything has tightened up for the weekend. I am planning on groomer runs tomorrow to see how things are out there with a first hand report from the entire trail. It may not be posted until Friday, but I will get something up for you die hards.

Neil, (or anyone else that knows)
I was suppose to leave Monday from Brevort on a bag trip to Copper Harbor... how are the trails coming out of Brevort headed in that direction? Thanks Pat

The only help I can offer Pat, is Don and Diane in Seney are roporting poor conditions until you are 3 or 4 miles north of town(Seney).
Check thier report @ foxrivermotel.com Don is in charge of the Seney grooming and current past Pres. of MSA. Hope this helps |

I wouldn't be surprised that it is pretty bad getting out of seney. The trail has been routed next to the road till you get out to the staging area, which I think its a couple miles out of town. It's pretty narrow there along the road and with hardly any snow its probably pretty beat up. Anything beats going through the swamp, where the trail normally runs.

Just talked to Don and they were blessed with 3 to4 inches in Seney and 6 inches 4 miles north of town all the way up to Grand Maria. To swamp is frozen solid and the forecast is calling for more snow today and tonight.Lets hope it makes its way south to Iggy.
