Snowmobiling in St. Ignace - Do's and Don'ts
This is borrowed from the St. Ignace Winter Fun Guide...
Snowmobilers can ride on designated snowmobile areas.
Snowmobilers can ride on the plowed shoulder areas of all city streets ? EXCEPT FOR THE STATE HIGHWAY OR TRUNK-LINE AND BUSINESS LOOP I-75 (ALSO KNOWN AS STATE STREET) ? AND NOT EXCEED 25 MPH.
Snowmobilers can ride on the former railroad right of way.
Snowmobilers can cross city streets and alleys.
Snowmobilers must ride in single file on city street shoulders and go with the flow of traffic.
Snowmobilers should limit riding along city streets to gaining access to snowmobile trails.
Snowmobilers should be familiar with all other laws and local ordinances.
Snowmobilers should operate snowmobiles safely and with regard to other people?s rights and property.
Snowmobilers are permitted to ride on county roads within Mackinac County, subject to provisions of the Michigan Snowmobile Safety Act and other applicable State of Michigan laws.
Snowmobilers must obtain a Michigan Snowmobile Trail Permit (available at Chamber of Commerce and many local businesses)
SNOWMOBILERS CANNOT RIDE ON THE STATE HIGHWAY OR PLOWED SHOULDER OF THE TRUNK-LINE AND BUSINESS LOOP I-75 (STATE STREET).
Snowmobilers cannot ride on city sidewalks.
Snowmobilers may not operate their vehicles while intoxicated.
