Default Weather Conditions 11-21-16

Another warning shot by Mother Nature? Since my last report, for the last month or so, it has been unseasonably worm that is for sure. In fact last friday it was 65d at least and even warmer downstate. Saturday ushered in the first major storm even into the area, and Iggy got about 3/4" of snow, just downstate it was about 10"! Winds were bad, with 5 freighters and 3 tugs in our bay seeking refuge from the 'gales of November'. The ground is/was completely unfrozen and even last week the night temps were barely dipping into freezing temp range, with no puddle ice that I can remember. Since the storm things have changed, amazingly some snow is still on the ground, and it is cold. Forecast is in the 30s for the foreseeable future and a few rain/snow events through Thanksgiving to remind us that trails officially open in just 10 days.

Just drove back from EUP. Snow all the way back to Bay City. It's all white .... we got over a foot of snow SW of Rudyard. Hit the "jackpot" as far as being in one of the LE bands this time. Raco had over 16, the Soo club had pic on Facebook with the yellow Cat heading out. Ground was not frozen when all this came, so hopefully they get the frost in the ground. Very cold air coming will help. Looks like a lot more snow on the way.
