Default Trail Conditions 1-22-16

Good news, upgrading again, we are in very good condition right now, only way to make them better is another foot of snow, but right now, there is no way to make our trails any better. Everything is covered with 4-6" base, frozen down, is flat wide and fast. Groomers both ran today and covered everything and we are in really good shape.

We do have some logging going on, but it isn't really effecting us. They are plowing teh entirity of Castle Rock road, (the Souteast end of #471) and the Eastern Mile of the Burma grade (Trail #2, at #47) and maybe a mile right in the middle of the Cut River Trail, between Brevort & Epoufette (#473 near the Prout Rd). The pipeline South of Brevort Lk (on #471) is a bit thin, but passable. There are also a few rocks that got mixed into teh snow in the Moran area, nothing to worry about, eEverything is passable and in good condition.
(You can pick out these areas on V&V Maps on MSA Site: http://www.vvmapping.com/trails/miSn...gnace_1748.pdf

I groomed town trail tonight, and it turned out pretty good. You can ride the side of the roads OK, a small amount of pavement, but downtown gas and US-2 gas/motels are all accessible.

Couple pics from today, the trail just outside iggy, and chain lake grooming run.

And a quick documentation on the ice conditions:
Things are very thin in the bay. Ice has been moving in and out alot of it is broken up. It is trying to form a sheet, but there is still open water between British and here. Sheplers and Arnold continue to break up the bay ice with daily runs. Rumor is the Coast Guard is closing the channel on Saturday. They are investigating different locations for pond hockey over the next few days.

We're on the trail and on our way back. We will be back tomorrow. Plan is to have a get together Sat night at Timmy's and have a drink in our good friend Griz's honor. Hope to see you there.

Got pretty warm today. Lost some snow and worked some more rocks to the surface on the rr grade. Everything still flat and passable but some areas getting brown.

My wife and rode this afternoon (Sunday 1-24) and 471 was pretty good and as mentioned a bit thin along the pipeline. Trail 2 going east was good even though it had been plowed. As expected the RR grade was a bit thin and icy. As always be careful on the lakes, Brevoort had about 10-11" but there is a big pressure crack with slush on both sides, it runs from south side of Christianson Bay to Black Point so be very careful if riding this lake. As always thanks to the groomers, keep up the good work.
