Default Trail Conditions 1-18-16

Quick weekend wrapup here.

I am upgrading trails to generally good condition, and many places they are above that. The rain and timing of the grooming runs on Thursday and Friday has set the RR Grade quite well, and we are in quite good shape on the base development. The pipeline is the only section that was still a bit thin, and I say that only because some sand had to be mixed into the snow base to get it smooth.

We got a rather surprise 6" on Saturday night, still all lake effect like everything this season. We are up to about 4" solid snow base on the trails and continue to pack thing down to harden and smooth the base out.

A question was asked about town, everything is accessible, and we should have enough snow to groom the town trail this week - I will likely give it a try on Thursday.

Forecast is for a 1-3" today, and maybe a little more on Thursday, with temps sitting at 20d. Things should be just fine for a little while. Ice continues to develop on the big lake, but as soon as the bay freezes over, it seem sot blow out, so no major icing to report at this time - but it is getting better.

I will update more when I get reports from the outer trails.

Neil, I'm not real clear on what part of Castle Rock Rd. is plowed. If it's all plowed and the east end of the Burma Grade is plowed, can we get to Brevort from Iggy?

I am told they are going to plow all of Castle Rock Rd.

I think they are also plowing the Borland Road, and about 1 mile of the Burma Grade (Trying to get toe eh big red pines.)

All plowed roads are passable right now.

Wink, When I left on Monday all the trails were good to great with nothing plowed. That's a ton more than I can say for this crap out west. Don't even realize how spoiled we are. I think I just rode 400 miles of Tucker Hibbert rhythm section.

When you say out west, where are you referring to?

We took a back pack trip west to Wisconsin and then UP the kenewaw. It's unreal how there is no grooming going on and they have a bunch of lake affect snow.

I think we just spoiled Kenny. He is now testing out the shocks on that new sled.
