Default Trail Conditions 1-22-15

Trail conditions have not changed much, a little more used, and 1/4" of new snow, so pretty much a wash. Trails should hold, so Groomers are parked until Friday night, when both machines will run. The Iggy machine will be running the orange drag, as the curse of 2015 continues: the big green drag came in with major damage after hooking a stump on the Cedarville connector. Lots of damage, but should go back together pretty well. After wanting to rebuild this drag for 3 years running we now have the money so it will get fully fixed up in the summer. For the meantime, Randy and I will be welding on Saturday during the day, and we hope to get it back on the trail for Sat night.

The Southern trails are still in thin condition for some areas, so watch out for the areas of concern:

Just outside of Iggy, the RR Grade is pretty thin for about a mile. Some rocks, but passable

And, once you reach the first intersection North, take the West trail, as if you continue North on the RR Grade, you will run up to just South of Moran, where there is about 1.5 miles of nearly impassable trail it is so thin. You can try off-trail along here, but it is on your own.

Also the Cut River trail is quite thin, but passable. We are only going to groom that one once a week until we get more snow in an attempt to keep the snow clean and dirt free.

The forecast is showing cold temps, except for Friday, and really no new snow to speak of. This coming weekend will be more of the same, thin but ridable. We make the best with what we have to work with, come on up, you will have a good time.

The forecast for this weekend is exactly what we don't want to see, warmer temps on Friday and Saturday, which will tear up the trails with any kind of traffic.
Quote:
Friday A 40 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a high near 34. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.
Friday Night A chance of snow and freezing drizzle. Cloudy, with a low around 29. West wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Saturday A chance of snow showers and freezing drizzle before 10am, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Saturday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12.
Sunday Mostly cloudy, with a high near 17.
Sunday Night Mostly cloudy, with a low around 3.
Monday Mostly sunny, with a high near 14.
We should be able to fix up what isn't totally wore out, so head on up and get your fix in.

Likely. It only stuck up 2-3" if I remember.
Bad thing is if I had to put money on it, it would be that same big stump I hooked with the back blade on the last trip through that bent the back blade when we opened up that trail. Randy was carrying some snow and trying to fill the little ups-downs in that new section, and he said he really didn't feel it catch much.

Stump grinder this summer for sure.

Snowing like crazy right now.

Still only supposed to get 1". Decent snow though, and will help out some.

Still going.... over 2" now!

Not alot to be happy about, but this is the best snow we have had all year. This is equal to 6" of lake effect.

Just got off the phone with Chuck and he said at least 4 to 5 of wet heavy snow. Very good wet packing snow and he lives just north of town.

Easy 4-5 in town, and 5-7 North of us, including Epoufette. Both groomers are packing now, and trails will be in great shape by morning.

It will be warm tomorrow and they will get tore up, and groomers will run again tomorrow night. Looking like a good weekend.

FINALLY

We were on teh good side of the weather forecast. They called for 1 to 1.5" of snow,m we got hammered all day yesterday with 5"-8" of super heavy wet snow. It is perfect for what teh trails needed. Both groomers ran last night and I did not get any reports of major problems, so things should have turned out great. I will get a detailed report later.

Our trails should be the best they have been all season.

Don't worry Kenny, should still be good on Wed.

That would have been a sight to see.

Downside is--once you see it you can not un-see it.

The information I get from the DNR is fantastic. I have not even heard there will be logging on our trails this year. We get to find it out by running into them with the groomers. No idea on the length, we have not really had any contact with them.

Brevort groomer just trained a new driver so we should be able to keep that in better shape, even with the plowing.
