A pathetic season for grooming all around. Even though our trails were generally ridable, and certainly smooth all season, our final numbers are in, and we groomed 2430 miles this season. A low year is about 8500, and the most I have seen is 11500, and we average about 10,000 miles groomed per season. With grooming only about 24% of normal, we have to just hope for a better then average season for next winter.

SUMMER 2010
The Straits Area Snowmobile Club is now participating in the ATV/ORV program. We were awarded over $8k for grading the common use snowmobile/ATV trails on our system for this summer. We plan on grading 70 miles of trail 3 times this summer. With the bad snow year, we removed the drags, and had the grader blade, and our brusher unit on the groomers by the 3rd week of March. Dave has already done some very heavy grading on the RR Grade out of St. Ignace for about 5 miles. He plan on Making it to Trout Lake by the end of April. Once the grounds get too hard to grade, we will switch to the brushing operation, and hope to brush out the Western Trails through the summer.

Our new (to us) 9 wheel rubber tire roller will be here by the end of this month. This will pack the newly graded trail down hard, and keep them smoother longer for the ATVs.

As always, look for the groomers during summer parades, and car & truck show, when they are not out on the trails in the summer.

Just more ways that tour Club is maintaining the best Snowmobile (and hopefully now ATV) trails around!
