Just got a new windshield and of course my trail permit is on the existing windshield. Not being from Michigan thought I would ask; anyone know of a solution other than having to purchase another permit? I might be waiting until next year to put on the new windshield...

heat the windshield from behind, and get the adhesive good and sticky. Then you can carefully puddy knife it off and reapply to the new one, while it is still warm. You can still wreck it, and then watch it over the year as it may not stick as well.

The other option, just cut the whole thing out, and duck-tape the piece on.
I really don't think you can get a replacement sticker cheap, I think they clip you for the whole cost.

From what I have heard it must be peramantly on the sled. If you can get it off, try clear tape over it on the new windshield. Or just use your windshield you have it stuck to now. No replacement, you pay $35 again for a new one.

:( He's right. They will not give you a replacement. You would need to buy another one for $35 if you wreck it. I did the same thing last year, so my new cool windshield did not go on until this year!:sorry2[1]

Starting this year, I'm using clear packing tape under my trail permits. I'm done with spending 30 min removing the "void" adhesive from underneath the sticker.

Yep it's a lot of monkeying around getting that stuff off every fall...good idea...will have to try it next year.

All you need to do is heat it with a heat gun and it will peel right off. I had a broken windshield and I heated it and the sticker came right off. If you don't heat it up real good, the void will stay on the shield.

I used double sided tape to secure it to the new windshield. The officers that looked at it on the trail had no idea i moved it from one to the other.:D

There's a thread on HCS Mi forum that's interesting. Some people actually believe that if you have more than one sled BUT, only ride one at a time, you should still buy a permit for each one.
One rider should equal one permit.

Um, am I missing something. I just put the new permit over the old one. Or are you guys worried that the extra weight is slowing the yammis down?

No Neil, we just don't want to mess up the fit and finish of the Yammies. Perfection is hard to beat!!!

Usually the only thing slowing me down Neil is pulling one of the other brands back to Iggy after they break down.

That's illegal from what I've heard.
That's how I used to do it, then after two seasons take it back down to the windshield.

As some of you may know I go through alot of sleds so the answer to your question is a simple one. Don't buy the good trail stickers like the ones you get from MSA at the novi show... get the ones from the local stores where they print there own. Those don't have the VOID imprinted on them when you remove them. I get all of mine from Gustafson's in Brevort.

Your trail sticker is issued to you and not your sled. So if your sled is on the trail it should have one if its in the garage than its not needed. However the money does go to our trails so its a good thing.
