View Full Version : Owners of Strong General Store lost home to fire
I just read on HCS that the people that own the Strongs General Store just lost their home to a fire. They lost everything. I have always thought these were nice people and friends of the sport. Is there anything our club can do as far as donations of basic necessities? Neil, I know you do a lot for the club now but could someone check into the possibilities of our club doing something to help? Maybe we could ask for monetary donations from our members and pool it all together and give them a check in the name of our club.

I also seen that, sad to see. We helped brush up there a few years back, and always stop at the store when we ride that way.
Count me in for a $$ donation.

I have no problem collecting some funds and forwarding it on to them. I would think that the club could kick in some from the general fund too. Just not too sure how much we are going to collect around here right now, there is really only 15-25 of us on here weekly right now.
That said, anyone who would like to make a donation, PM me directly. I would like to do at least a $100, if we get enough to send them a check, I will let everybody know, and you can either paypal the club, so send in a check. We will combine everything, and send them a check from the club.
That said, anyone who would like to make a donation, PM me directly.
Count me in Neil

OK Guys, we have enough people interested in doing something here. I can't make a promise of exactly how much the club in put in the kitty until our meeting next Monday, I an informal discussion I was thinking about matching the average donation, so something there abouts.
I have 6 people who said they are interested. I am asking the checks be sent to my home address by next Monday if possible, and I will bring it up at our Monday meeting. Anyone else who is interested in contributing, please PM me for my home address.
Thanks for everybody who showed interest. It shows that most are great and giving people - even if the effect folks are not on our actual trail system :)
Sending a check in the morning, not much but something.
C'mon people, I know times are tuff but dig in. Imagine losing everything, even the Christmas presents you had bought for the family. These people are always happy to help out sledders when they come in their store. Every little bit helps. Even $5 each times 20 people is $100.:Clap2:

As they say ...check is in the mail.
From what I have read Steve and Pat are going to fix up the small cabin behind the store. To get them through the winter. Then rebuild in the spring.

An update on this for everyone.
Just wanted to let everyone know that the members of the Straits Area Snowmobile Club bucked up and the Club is sending a check up to Steve and Pat for $200.
It is hard to imagine loosing everything in a disaster like this. Thanks to everyone who contributed.
:thumb[1]: Great job guys and gals. Another reason I'm proud to be a member of this club.
Thanks for the extra work Neil!!!

Here is a picture of the house and Steve standing there in disbelief. All of us from Strongs and Hulbert have chipped in to help. Biskit rules on things like this. He had his army show up with I cant tell you how much stuff. Anyway what ever you come up with for them I am sure they will apppreciate it. Take some pictures to post when you do it, Michael-El-Diablo BISKIT ARMY MEMBER

Ditto!!! Great to hear that things are getting back to "normal", especially this time of year. Let's keep the bad news to a minimum this holiday season. Hope everyone rides safe this winter.
