Things are looking pretty good out there. Yesterday the forecast called for 3-6" of new snow, we only got a trace. The rest of the precip was a light mist - all day. It was not enough to melt anything, just turn things a bit crunchy and icy.

The trails are in good shape, and are all quite smooth. We have not seen any wet snow in quite some time, and the trails could use a bit of a refresher, just to make it excellent again. The corners are a bit icy, and the rest of the snow is somewhat crunchy, it just does not pack very well, but overall we are in good shape.

Groomers are both running their schedules, with no major problems. One evening this week the Brevort machine will return to St. Ignace to have some welding done on the drag, but it should just be an overnight thing, then right back to the outer trails.

There were actually some trailers in the parking lots around town. Thanks to all those you made the journey, and hope you made it home safe.

This Saturday, the 10th the Snowmobile Club will be having a trail stop at the North end of #471, and intersection with #2 (At the Burma Grade) Will will have a meet and greet, a groomer to look at, free hotdogs, coffee, and hot chocolate - maybe even more! The Driftwood Sports Bar in St. Ignace is running a fun run on our trails, with 75% going to Prizes, and 25% going to the Snowmobile Club. Everybody make their reservations today!

That sounds good. Coming up on Thursday.

What time is the meet and greet thing on Saturday? Bringing my youngest son for his first trip to the UPS, and he might like to check out the groomer.

Trail side hot dogs sound good to me.

The trail stop is officially from 11 to 3, but sometimes we are there sooner and longer, depends on weather and traffic.

Hi there
We we're in St. Ignace for the New Year (Wed. night thru Sunday) and I have to say, the groomers did an awesome job! Could you please extend our thanks to them for all the hard work that they did. The trails we perfect! We had a great time.

thanks groomers.

On another side note: Gotta give a shout out and thank you to Griz. After loading his sled out, he did not have a ride, and offered to take the groomer out. He took the Brevort groomer out and did ALL of the Northern trails, not just the normal scheduled run, consisting of over 90 miles. A quite long run for the groomer. Thank again, and hope you guys had an OK trip back to Ohio. Yes folks Ohio, Griz holds the record for our farthest traveled groomer driver.

Yep, I'm the guy he loaned his sled to after mine broke down. Takes a heck of a guy to loan his sled out so he can go work. Then I almost collided with the groomer he was driving when I came around a turn over by Brevort, on his sled. Gotta get that beacon working Neal!!!

Thanks again Curt for the use of the sled and the great job grooming!!:thumb[1]:

Help please. Are there hotels downtown where you can stay and park your trailer and ride your machine right to the trail. I do know where the staging area is next to the hockey rink. But I would like to ride from the hotel to the trail from that area of St.Ignas.

Thanks Pro

And I almost forgot. Famouseguy I bet you do like free hot dogs.:D Have you ever eaten say a bakers dozen of hot dogs at one meal? Just wondering. Note I spelled your name right this time. I feel real bad about that spelling mistake last week.:p

You can ride from the Budget Host downtown or you can ride from the Super 8 on Us 2. Those are the 2 spots I would stay at. Both guys do alot for the club and are very gracious hosts. Have a fun trip!

Anyone know if the trails are good to go on Drummond Island?:thanx2[1]

Trail side frankfurters and hot cocoa at the meet and greet on Sat. does sound good. Makes me think of back when I was a lad following my dad on a 1970 12 horse ski-doo olympic with my brother Steve on the back hitting me because I wouldnt let him drive. Back in those days my dad would bring hot chocolate and we would roast hot dogs right on the trail or even right in the park we were riding at.

Drummond Report as of this AM:
Groomers Report:
Entire trail system is very good with a few exceptions. Expecting 4 to 6" of snowfall on 01/06/09 - 01/07/09. If we get snow as predicted, the entire trail system could be in excellent shape. Both groomers were out on 01/05 and today 01/06. Entire trail system will be groomed again. Remember logging on Trails 492 and 493. Trail 5l0 is closed for season

Wife will be home in 2 hours and we are in the truck and on our way. She will have put in her 13 hours today just like she has for the last 27 years and has only missed 4 days in those 27 years to have one baby. I on the other hand stopped working 11 years ago to do the laundry. And I quit doing that 10.5 years ago because she didnt like the way I mixed it all together. Think about that.:D

Me and that Suzuki hat go back to when they came out with their 440 Fury(Vintage sled buffs will have to come up with the year) early-mid 70's I think. Hard to remember that far into the past. I was happy to be able to help out the club and my buddy Wink, who unfortunately lost his motor. Was a little strange seeing my sled coming at me around a blind turn though(how do I explain this to my insurance agent?) Will gladly run it again when I'm back UP there. Hope you got your log sheets Neil, I'll be better next time:D
