Snow VP

Well, I have been a little lax, but here is your first report of the new year, I hope everyone has recovered nicely.
Conditions have changed very little in the last few days. We did get a few inches of snow on New Years Eve, which sweetened up the trail some, but more is needed. It is forecasted to get 1 to 3 tomorrow, and then light snow for the next 7 days. A foot or more before the poker run would be nice.
I talked to Groomer Nick last night after he came in, and he said the same ol same ol, trails are thin, but very smooth and ridable. The corners are a bit tore up, and he saw quite a few sleds riding. Some sections of the trail were getting a bit ICY.
Problem areas:
RR Grade, from Castle Rock Road, North to Moran = some very thin spots in the open areas.
RR Grade, from M-123 to Moran = Bare spot in open field.
Pipeline - Between the Dam road, West to Brevort Camp Rd = snow on the actual trail surface is all but gone, nothing but sand left. There is a little snow along the edge of the pipeline, up next to the trees where you could possibly ride.
Burma West - the Western 2 miles of the Burma Grade, from the Push Pull Road, West to the Carp River Truck Trail = this is in similar condition to the pipeline. Very thin to no snow, but there is some on the edges, and just off the trail, you could possibly get around it, but I can't guarantee it. This is the area where we graded this year, and it is a bit tore up right now.
Cut River Stub = Holding, even with the dirt mixed in with the snow. The corners are getting tore up.
Most trails have a mix of heavy snow and ice about 4-6 inches thick only 8 feet wide where the groomer was driving. The groomer is still running a limited schedule, we need snow. If you ride, slow down as control in these conditions is not good, ICY sections have been reported.
Check out the trail condition post for 12-28-05 for typical pics of the trail conditions.
