So the weekend of 2-10 / 2-11 was an interesting one for sure.
I don't think anybody predicted those events that is for sure. The bridge was closed early Sunday due to high winds, but I don't think that was the whole story. I heard about an accident on the bridge, and I think visibility had something to do with it too, as the winds didn't seem that bad to me around here. Which is what turned out to be true. A 5 car chain reaction, followed by another 3 car chain reaction shut it down due to visibility
As of about 6:30 the bridge went back to 'wind escort' which means only cars & trucks are allowed across, and everything else has to be escorted at 20mph.
A few pics show the ominous state cop closing the on-ramp to the bridge, 2 pics of the bridge, and a quick shot of the parking lot of an adjacent business. Everything was still packed around here, restaurants, bars, and motels. I have not seen it this way in quite a while.
There were a few stranded people that were smart enough to just unload and go for a nice ride in the powder though, the ice rink parking lot was rather full for a Sunday.
