Interesting to say the least. No point in a trail update today, it is going to change minute by minute. All schools within 250 miles are closed, most county buildings, many businesses too. US-2 from I-75 West for a ways is closed too. It rained like crazy before the freeze last night, and then started to snow. No secondary roads open around here until tomorrow, although the snow is not a problem, it really is the ice.

It is 8d this morning, Mother nature was not too kind to us in this whole deal. She defiantly took more then she gave. I woulds guess we lost almost 1/2 our snow to the warm and rain over the last few days, and she only gave back a few inches in St. Ignace. I hear that north of us did get some more snow then we did here. I groomed town trail last night and conditions were scary. I was grooming more water then snow. Dave held his run last night again as it was just too soft. He left at 7am this morning, and is out packing things down while cutting the drifts. True trail conditions won't be known until tomorrow.

I will say this: I know that t he base survived for sure. The RR grade still had 4+ inches on it last night, but it was completely saturated with water. Question will be, will it all turn into ice, with just a few inches of snow on top? Don't know yet, and there is no way that I am going out there to find out today! I will check things over for you tomorrow morning, and get some pics of how it turned out. It will be ridable for sure, but how much snow over the base will be the question.

A group of about 18 are on the way up there this weekend. Is there going to be enough snow to ride on? We are from Muskegon (lower pen) near Grand Rapids, and that's along ride just to see the sights! What do you think? Will we be able to ride?

The trails will be rideable for sure. I know they got snow yesterday but not sure how much doe to the blowing. I talked to some friends north in Moran and they are reporting good snow. I know things I have read on other sites about further north says all good so you should be good no matter where you decide to go. Today is usually picture day so I'm sure Neil will post up some pics of the Straits trails..
