Well current trail conditions are changing hour by hour. Difference between today and the last couple of days is that this time they are improving, not melting.

Temp this morning is 34d. We did get a trace of snow in St. Ignace last night, and a bit more on the outer trails. A decent forecast is below for the next few days.

The weekend was not kind to the trails. I would estimate that we lost about 1/2 of our base last week, with the RR Grade hit the hardest, as expected. It was more like running a jet ski then sleds down the grade. The ice held on the RR Grade, and that in turn held lots of water on top, as most of the snow on that melted. The good news is that there is so much snow in the woods that for the most part, the trails held up. A few corners got tore up, and you had to dodge the slush holes that developed, but for the weather, we did OK. The trails on plowed roads, or shoulders are pretty tough going, and getting into and out of downtown is not pretty. Trailering to Castle Rock is highly recommended for the time being.

Better news is that it is getting colder, and we are predicted to get 4-8" of new snow tonight. The groomers are headed out this evening to smooth things back over, cause WE'RE NOT DONE YET! If is stays near or below freezing this week, this little bit of snow will whip us right back into shape, and because we are grooming as it is soft, and starting to freeze, things will be great smooth riding in no time.

We had our 3rd and final poker run for the season this weekend, I will do a full post on that later tonight, look for that in the news section.

Well folks, not much of a useful update today, just mostly saying, stay-tuned as tomorrow's update will be the important one. I don't think we are ready to drain the carbs, just yet!
