Snow VP

It is 20d and snowing today. Forecast is for additional 1-3 today, and maybe tomorrow. Base on the RR Grade is 9"+, and 18-36" everywhere else.

I rode 50+ last night, and the trails are smooth and great. The snow conditions are a bit weird though, in NASCAR terms, loose to be sure. Even with 1-2 grooms a day the center of the trail is just not packing like I would like to see. Never fear though, it will only take 1 day of 30d temps to correct that. We are supposed to get a 30d day this weekend.

Now for the bad news: Our new groomer is down. No one can figure out how it happened, and Nick did not notice it on his Monday groom, but the front main axle sheared off, and we lost the right front main wheel. We had 4 guys looking over the entire Southern route last night, and still could not find it. You think a 300 lb 2 1/2 foot tall yellow wheel would stick out, but no luck. The dealer has ordered the parts, and should be here Friday to repair the damage.
Now, that being said, we are down to 1 groomer, and I am trying to schedule the guys all out of Brevort for the time being. I have the next 2 days worked out, and we will be running that machine at least 22 hours a day. The staging and routing of people and equipment is going to force us to neglect the Cedarville connector for a few days. The rest of the system will still be groomed everyday. Please bear with us while we get things back to normal.

Trail Hazard is improving.
Up near Trout Lake, on the RR Grade, ? mile South of M-123, (being 1.5 miles North of the Kenneth Rd) the trail is only about 6 feet wide for 200? It is marked with hazard signs on the East side, but slow down and yield to oncoming traffic. Groomer Dave cut some trees on the West side, to widen this area out. He is slowly packing the snow on that side, and the trail will be good to go in a week or so. Each day that side gets a little wider, and harder. After about a week, I will downgrade the hazard, as it will just be a small kink in the trail.
