hey all, well my brother and sister in law are allowing me the use of one of their ZL 600 Artic Cats :cool2: . We are going as a large group of riders to the St.Ignace trail systems. Anyhow, this is my question: I have a cottage (hunting cottage) in the Rudyard area (pretty close to Old Mackinaw Trail) about 8 miles south of the actual town of Rudyard. Anyhow, directly on Mackinaw Trail is a road called Gamble... This road leads into the federal forest.

My question is this: Using the designated trail systems for the area, is it possible to get to that area of the federal forest that might lead towards gamble road ? or is it possible to get directly to Mackinaw Trail ?? Besides driving directly to cabin of course, I'd like to find a route that might be possible to drive that area.. any info would be greatly appreciated....

thx all, happy trails.........

You can head North of of St. Iggy, and hit our Cedarville connector, (Trail 47) and that will take you North of M-134, then shoulder ride the rest of the way. Another option is taking the Cedarville connector, and keep heading North on the East Lake Rd, until you get to the Gamble road, then just head East. I do not know the status of the gamble road, some of those FFS roads in that area are closed to motor traffic (the Edison Rd south of the gamble road for example).
Than should get you within a few miles. Just grab a trail map when you get to town, you will be able to figure it out.

Keith-
I'm in the same general area (Chub Creek area) south of Rudyard. Gamble Rd is just north from where trail 47 crosses Mackinaw Trail, very near the new bridge over I-75. Taking Gamble West off Mackinaw Trail, you hit 16 Mile, which runs N-S - the south end of it hits Trail 47 - going North on 16 Mile(with a few jogs the last couple miles) gets you to H-40. We run a power line west to pick up 16 Mile, and head south to pick up the Staits Area trails.

Rode Gamble Rd both Friday and Saturday - was fantastic :cool2:

Hope you found your way North/South on 16 Mile - great riding there also. Probably past you guys at one point ... We normally don't see too many people on these roads, and ran into several this time around. Gonna have to keep my posts to a min before too many people find our favorite off trail rides. :headbange

Rode with two different groups, one larger with 3 Yami's, 2 Cats, and my Pol. Saturday afternoon and then evening we ran past a couple groups with just the 2 Cats and my Red Pol. Some of the guys went to I-500.
