Snow VP

Good conditions and great riding all around. everything is smooth and has plenty of snow for your weekend adventures, and it looks like some got an early start! There were 23 trailers in the ice rink parking lot last night, and still 16 this morning! Groomer Nick passed 2 large groups of 20+ last night while grooming.
The RR Grade has 6" base with outer trails at 8-16" base. Everything is smooth, and both groomers are scheduled to run each day. The slightly colder weather has firmed up the trails a bit, and it is forecasted to get colder over the weekend, which will help the heavy traffic.
Well it is Groundhogs day, and I guess the rodent saw his shadow, so that means 6 more weeks of winter, as apposed to what? about another month and a half? Anyway, the trails are open for the next 2 months, so if we make it to the final week of March, I will be a happy camper. Mother Nature owes us a few weeks I figure.
The weather over the weekend looks real nice for riding. Temps in the 20s and occasional snow. I believe that. Now there is going to be this huge storm... hit the UP, no wait, maybe Detroit. Oh no the Super-bowl. As of this morning, never mind, heading East. If they are not forecasting for tonight or tomorrow, don't believe them.
Todays trail pics are of the RR Grade, just West of town. As you can see there is plenty of snow on the grade, and there is a good ice base under that. The grade will hold up fine for the foreseeable future, (and it gets groomed twice a day!) And speaking of grooming, we are now making bi-weekly runs to the Mackinac Bridge drop off location (AKA US-2 Shell) Now there are still a couple of places that you have to ride on the shoulder, but the groomer is making that trip up the side streets a much easier experience. This is nice for those staying on US-2, at the Quality Inn, or Super 8. Smile, access just got easier!
Well everyone, load up, and come on UP, the trails are fine, and we'll leave the Bridge open for ya!
