Hello. I am planning my first trip up to your guys neck of the woods and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of the best staging area’s? Is there anything around I75 and 134? Thanks for your help!

You can park at Little Bear Arena in downtown Saint Ignace, the trail is right next to it.
Another staging area is on Castle Rock Rd. at the RR grade intersection.
Also can park in Moran across from the bar.

Castle Rock is nice if snow is marginal on the grade, but Little Bear is close to food, gas, lighted parking ect. Both are very close to 75. To Little Bear, take the 75 business loop through town and watch for the signs that will direct you half a block west (left) to the lot. To hit Castle Rock, take the next exit off 75 (after the business loop which is N. state st. I believe) and go west. take an immediate left (you cannot go straight) but do not get back on the highway...i had a tought time the first time over there. road parallels 75 south. take first right and follow semi-plowed road till you get to plowed out area next to the trail/grade.

Parking in Moran would be easiest. One your sled take the RR grade north and the trail (#47) to Hessel is only a few miles north of Moran.
If you are going to leave your towing rig/trailer overnight I would check with the local businesses to see where would be the best place to park the rig. There is a gas station (BP) also in Moran.

Thanks for your help. And the wife will only let me out of the house for a day trip :( So I wake up at 3:30.. drive for 4 / ride for 8 / and then get home just in time for bed. Sucks pretty bad but at least I will be able to log some miles.

If I were you I would just go to little bear ice rink. Its right behind the napa auto parts store right in town. That way you will be able to get right on the sled and get out of town and have a great ride. If you are not familiar with the area just exit I75 at the first exit past the bridge and follow it right into town and look for the napa auto parts store and turn left. Have a great time.

I agree with the little bear arena. We've left from there before and always liked it. Just my opinion tho.
