OK I'm lost. Not to sound stupid, but tell me where that is. Looks like Niagra Falls or something.

To the center/left is the L.P. Top left is the Eastern U.P.
Light gray/white is land, the blue is ICE.
Can't really see Mac. island.

Sorry Kevin,
I am going to go with the blue is open water
The gray is land
the bright white is snow covered ice (Look at the straits)
By the way, the 3 first crossers were on the front page of the paper this week.

I really don't like the amount of press this is getting right now as being open and safe. The picture caption says that they found between 3 1/2 and 6" of ice out there. The ice bridge tree line is farther South then I have ever seen it, taking basically the route the ferries take to the island, not a straight shot over.
People are crossing daily. Just remember crossing frozen water of any depth is never 100% safe.

Welcome to the site Jim!!
My .02 is you all are crazy for crossing the ice. I'm afraid of a frozen water puddle in my driveway. I crossed it one time in 95 and it scared the H out of me, never again.
