Snow VP

Things are looking up. The temp this morning is 30d and still snowing. The groomers have been out trying to repair the weekend damage. Things are firming up but there is still a quite a bit of ice under the snow out there. It rained from 9pm Saturday to 9am Sunday, that turned to sleet, and then to snow by 10am. We received 3-4? of very very heavy snow in St. Ignace on Saturday, and more on the outer system. Over night we got another 2-4? of good snow. The RR Grade and many corners are slick under the new snow, the groomers will try to pack in down as best they can. I don?t have time to head out today and check conditions personally, but will talk to groomer Nick when he gets in, but that may be later tonight, I will have a better report for tomorrow.
So, since that is so short, a bit of report from the weekend (even though some have already beat me to it.) With the snow we received, these conditions are out of date, but I wanted to let you know what was going on. Things got REAL warm, over 50d Friday in St. Ignace is just plain silly, but it happened. As predicted the RR Grade out of town took a beating, but many people heeded my advice and trailered to Castle Rock, and that helped to save that trail. The result of moderate traffic, and 40d temps on Saturday combined to tear up the Cut River TT, some snirt in many corners, and where the drag has tore up the edges, but rideable. The pipeline had some very bad areas on it, about down to the sand in a few spots. The entire rest of the system was SOFT, and quite a few places had slush holes. The good news is that the base was holding, and things will be back to great condition in no time.
Most know about my Saturday plans. I headed out in the morning on sled w/trailer to try to fix and swap a bunch of missing signs. It took a bit over 10 hours, and I replaced between 40 - 50 signs. Not all of those were missing, as I replaced a bunch of those defective ones too. Jim DeKeyser, our President, and owner of the local Super 8 met me mid-day with his truck. He brought posts and the auger, and spent the rest of the day setting 14 missing posts. We got in about 2 hours after dark. I am happy to day that all of the missing signs (that I could find) are now fixed. I also fixed the door to the bathroom on the burma grade, after andie245 a board regular made me aware of the problem. Its all fixed for ya girl! Thank you to the many folks that gave me the thumbs up out there, and I am sorry to Ron (Beagle1) for the short conversation we had, I had to get over to help Jim and kept stopping to fix signs on the way to him. I appreciate that time you took to pick up that box that fell out of my trailer, and yes those were defective signs that were in the box.
This weeks board tip:
I have now activated the custom avatars for board users. What is an avatar? That is the little pic under your name when you post (the groomer is mine) Simply go to your User CP, and choose edit avatar. Scroll to the bottom and click on browse to select the file from your computer. Note the file size restrictions, and animated pics are not accepted.
Thanks to Snobooger for bringing it up.
